Life at a residential school is much more than just attending school. It is a place where you develop your character, hone your skills and learn to nurture your soul. Academics happen along the way while you are busy creating yourself.
This is what we encourage children to do, create themselves! The children spend most of their growing years with us, in the school environment. Thus, what we do at school, as Educators, is paramount in the life of the child.
Today’s generation needs a lot more skills than any generation before them required and the need for a strong character and positive mindset cannot be emphasised enough. They have access to information whether good or bad at their fingertips. So, it is imperative to teach them how to handle the information and pick out the one which is ethically and morally correct.
Learning to stand up for the right (not only their rights) and raising a voice against atrocities is a skill they all need to learn and learn to use responsibly. Understanding that less is more and living a life reflecting that, so as to genuinely advocate sustainability, is the need of the hour. These children cannot shy away from the responsibility of making this world a better place, as eventually they will be the ones living in it.
We take it upon us to showcase the values we want the children to imbibe, so as for them to be citizens the country and eventually the world is proud of. Each child is unique and yet they are a part of a society and community. We try and teach them to maintain their identity without disrespecting or ridiculing another’s identity. Values are what makes them and this is what makes us unique at The Doon Girls' School.
I strongly believe in the fact that a curious mind and a kind heart are a reason behind a lot of developments which are for the betterment of the community and we strive to create creators!
